Electric RC Car - A Great Beginner to Moderate Level Car
If you are not a beginner and just starting out driving RC cars, but you are not ready to jump into the hobbyist level of Gas Powered RC Cars, then the 4WD Rally Racing Skyline just might be the car you are looking for. With speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, this high powered electric rc car features AWD, or All Wheel Drive, front and rear double wishbone suspension, a high powered 540 type electric motor, and is all powered by a 7.2v Ni 1800 SC rechargeable battery.
The difference between this car and other electric rc cars? Well, first off, you will notice it is a little more of an investment, running around 9.99 up to 9.99. Beginner electric rc cars run anywhere from to 0. Also, the AWD feature and the higher powered motor and upgraded features. Beginner electric rc cars usually only hit top speeds of around 15-20 miles per hour or lower. The suspension system is also an upgrade, featuring the double wishbone and coil spring damped suspension. The controller that comes with it also features a Liquid Crystal numeral display.
What kinds of terrain? Although i wouldn't drive it through deep mud or puddles being that it is electric, this car should be fun to drive on pavement or light dirt terrain. Just make sure that you clean it thoroughly after driving in the dirt, as parts can wear out if you don't take care of them. The standard rubber tires will allow more grip on pavement, and the advanced suspension would come in useful when performing small jumps on the rally (dirt) track.
How big is it? The is a 1:10 scale model, meaning it is roughly 1/10th the size of a real car. At approximately 17 inches long and 8 inches wide, it weighs approximately 14 pounds.
Is it RTR? This electric rc car does come ready to run, other than the 8 AA batteries needed to power the remote control and a quick charge up. Just take out the 7.2v Ni rechargeable battery pack, and the AC adapter, plug it in, charge it up, and go play!
Is it a good gift for my kids? I personally would not get this particular electric rc car for children under 12, unless you know that a car with speeds up to 40 mph will not be problematic for them. There is a great selection of more novice electric rc cars, helicopter, planes, and boats on our site that would suit younger children better.
